California -- Love it! |
This week was a time warp. Went by SO FAST but Tuesday feels like a life time ago when I think back to what we did. Mission time is the weirdest concept ever.
We taught and visited a lot of less active members this week and the rest of the time we were out in the sun! Finding, finding, finding! Not much luck until Saturday! I left the house knowing it was going to be a bomb day.
We had lunch with Dorcie and taught her the plan of salvation. Dorcie is really involved in her Christian church but loves the missionaries. She told us that she isn't looking to change churches but we still wants us to teach her the doctrine. She loves it all and learns so much from us. She has amazing questions and desires to have a really strong faith is Jesus Christ. It is really cool. I love her. She came on Sunday to church to support me in my talk! cute huh?! :) Oh yea, I spoke in church about being Converted to the Lord and His Gospel. I sent you a copy mom.
Then we hit the streets and we found a couple families that could be interested! Everyone is just so loving (at least the ones who like us) We met Janice. She gave us a gallon of water! Her family is catholic and they are sooooooo nice to us! They said we are welcome anytime and they would love to come to our church. Then we met Margret. She is from Egypt and loves Jesus Christ with all her heart. She said she had been waiting for someone to come. They both said they would come to church but they didn't show up. Big bummer but that's okay!! We will be back :)
We had interviews with President Taylor on Friday and it was wonderful. President Taylor asked me, "How did you get to be this happy and are you THIS happy all the time??" I shrugged my shoulders, I guess! I am just a happy happy person! I love being here and I love being a missionary.
If you think about the four commandments that God gave Adam and Eve and to us. 1. multiply and replenish the earth 2. don't partake of the fruit 3. tend to the garden 4. BE HAPPY.
We are given these commandments as well. We are commanded to be happy!! And President Gordon B Hinkley says, " If you want to be happy, live the gospel!" So that is what I am doing -- Living the Gospel!
Sorry for the short email this week - I just don't have much time!
Love you all!
Be happy and find joy!
Love always,
Sister Holt
